Today, we want to shine a spotlight on the remarkable journey of Will Kleemeier, a true embodiment of determination and compassion, as he embarked on an awe-inspiring cross-country bike ride to champion the cause of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). With unwavering pride, BLG Logistics stood by his side, offering support, and recording every twist and turn of his 3,500-mile expedition, a journey that echoed the resilience of those affected by PKD.
Polycystic Kidney Disease, an insidious ailment with no known cure, casts a shadow of uncertainty over those who suffer from it. Stemming from a genetic mutation, this condition is passed down through generations, leaving an indelible mark on families across the globe.
In June, Will commenced his journey from the town of Seaside, OR that would take him all the way to Ocean City, NJ. To signify the begging of his journey, Will dipped his back tire into the Pacific Ocean. The wind behind his back and the spirit of a supportive network of family and friends fueled his determination as he ventured into the unknown. Will understood better than most what PKD can mean for someone, as at the age of 40 he himself was diagnosed with the disease and lost his mother to the same ailment in 2007. With each pedal stroke, he became a symbol of hope and perseverance, proving that even in the face of immense challenges, “where there is a Will there is a way.”
Throughout his trek, Will encountered obstacles that could have derailed his mission. From the adversity of broken bones to the unexpected hurdle of COVID-19, he persevered through all these obstacles and continued to move forward. But Will's resilience knew no bounds. Every setback only seemed to kindle his passion further, intensifying his dedication to raising awareness and funds to combat PKD.
It is with immense pride that we celebrate the milestone Will achieved. His journey not only traversed the length of the United States but also united hearts and minds in the fight against PKD. He ended his journey by dipping his front wheel in the Atlantic Ocean to signify his journey’s end. Through his unwavering determination, he managed to raise more than $50,000, a testament to his ability to rally supporters and kindred spirits around a noble cause.
